Finally, there’s something exciting to look forward to in 2020 and we all have our favorite Hot Girl Megan Thee Stallion to thank!
Meg recently announced that her debut album, “Good News”, will finally be released on Friday, Nov. 20. We have all been waiting years for her to drop this album (literal years y’all!) – as you know she’s been entangled in a nasty legal battle with her first record label 1501 Certified Ent., which has made it super difficult for her to release new music. And although in the meantime the Houston hottie has blessed us with mixtapes like “Fever” and “Suga”, there’s nothing more exciting than a certified album.
Megan recently took to twitter to explain that the title of her album was inspired by her own experiences in 2020, “THROUGH SUCH A ROUGH YEAR I FELT LIKE WE COULD ALL USE A LIL GOOD NEWS, MY OFFICIAL ALBUM “GOOD NEWS” DROPS NOV 20TH!”. The rapper also unveiled her dope album cover, which shows her in a giant display box surrounded by positive headlines about her.
Megan also revealed the a start studded track list, with several collaborations with the who’s who in Hip-Hop/R&B, it’s pretty safe to say that her debut album is going to be a certified banger!
Good News comes after an extremely intense year for the Houston Hottie. From a nasty battle with her record label over control of her music, to collaborations with the ULTIMATE QUEEN Beyoncé and Cardi B (that BOTH went number one on the Billboard Hot 100 btw), to the now infamous July shooting, in which she was shot in her foot allegedly by fellow artist Tory Lanez (Lanez has maintained his innocence in the situation transpired), it is safe to say Meg has been through it all and we’re not even done with 2020!
And the news just keeps getting better and better for Meg as the Recording Academy unveiled the nominees for the 2021 Grammy Awards and Thee Stallion was recognized four times over. Meg’s nominations are for “Savage Remix” with Beyonce which is up for Record of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and the coveted Best New Artist awards.
Her debut album isn’t the only good news the rapper is sharing, as she was just named GQ’s 2020 Rapper of the Year(a flip on their annual “Man of the year” issue). Megan opens about all of the pain and trauma she’s suffered this past year in a recent interview with the magazine. She also expresses her feelings on how Black women everywhere are treated, with the highest expectation to constantly be strong , but are completely neglected when they’re put in danger. In that same interview, Megan also goes on to allege that Lanez offered her and her former best friend Kelsey, money for their silence (Lanez’s lawyer denies these allegations).
Now whether she chose to address the many rumors or if she just provides a WELL NEEDED fun escape for fans and herself, Megan’s debut album is sure to be an absolute must-listen.
Be sure to cop Good News on all platforms and check out her Rapper of the Year interview with GQ.
