My Beauty Full Weekend

In my last post, I told you guys that I am going to be proactive about my skincare.  I’ve been using my black soap nightly and it is making a marked change.  I’m noticing that my skin is a lot clearer and that makes me super happy.  Over the weekend, I had the chance to get dolled up, chat with lovely women at an empowerment session, and get treated with a box full of beauty products!  Let’s dish…

Friday night, I went to Kami Cosmetic’s M3 Affair in the heart of Atlanta’s swank Buckhead district.  It was held at the posh Conceited, Inc. lash bar, hosted by owner, Shaunell Kennard.  Guests enjoyed tasty wine selections, infused dessert treats, complimentary beauty services and exciting giveaways, while shopping their favorite products from Kami Cosmetics’ signature line.  Additional event partners included Jola’s Joyful Events, A Haute Cookie, Tipzy Berries, Sweet Bitch Wines, Lillie Mae PR, Exotic Shotz, Moze Print & Design, Digby Print & Promo & Jes Fabuluxe Events.  The giveaways & buttefly box items were sponsored in part by Godiva, Soap Snob, Foot Kandy, Harbor Mill Candles, Polished Colors LLC, Dezign Ayua Naturals, Dent First, Conceited Inc, Natty Coco, Free Soul Body, Shop Nix Nax, Nneka Nicole NY, Plush Pout by YBF and The Glamatory.

Now, let’s talk about the Butterfly Beauty Box!!  This box was stuffed with products from the aforementioned businesses.  Going through the box, I found nail polishes, bath salts, lashes, and much more to assist me on this beauty kick I’m currently on!  I thought it was so ironic that beauty keeps coming my way on the heels of me making a personal and then public challenge to myself to nurture my beauty needs.  I guess the stars have aligned!  As the second installment of the ‘Mix, Mingle, Makeup’ series, the Kami Cosmetics team will continue to produce posh event experiences for Atlanta’s female influencers. The luxury beauty brand offers paraben free, hypoallergenice products that are a smart & healthy choice for the skin. The line includes multifaceted lip treatments, eyeshadows and brow definers.  For information on the next M3 Affair, connect with the brand on social media @Kami_Cosmetics or visit www.KamiCosmetics.com.

There is just something about a woman…we can empathize with one another because in some godly way, we understand…we relate.

The featured speakers of the I Am Enough Empowerment Brunch 2015.

Saturday, I was honored to be one of the 4 keynote speakers at the I Am Enough Empowerment Brunch out in Cobb County.  It was presented by Lashielle Denise Creative, LLC and they definitely did an amazing job!  The set up was so beautiful and all of the women in attendance were so ready to receive.  I let my hair down for this event and dolled up with make-up as well.  Demishia, the creator of this event, decided to inspire others as a birthday gift to herself.  Instead of spending money on a party or trip out of town, she decided to host an empowerment event in which the attendees could come for FREE and be inspired!!  How inspiring is THAT?!  We were all seated in elegant table groups.  I was seated at the “Honesty” table.  So fitting.  There were plenty of networking games and the food!!  Honey, the food was delicious!!  Each speaker delivered an amazing story of inspiration, encouragement, motivation, and most importantly…sisterhood.  There is just something about a woman…we can empathize with one another because in some godly way, we understand…we relate.

Pose! Covergirl!

Later that night, me and my girlfriend headed out on the town.  We wanted to get pretty and I was taking Man applications, lol.  Seriously.  My recent debacle with a car battery has changed me into seeking out my Boaz!  That’s another story for another post…coming soon.  We headed out to Sandy Springs to support a dj friend of mine at Chef Rob’s Lounge.  The music was on point for the 35 and up crowd and the drinks were…ok.  But, we weren’t there for that, we were there to be ka-yute!  We succeeded on the beauty, but I failed on the Boaz.  🙁  However, having good drinks, laughs with a good friend, and great music on a Saturday night; that’s a recipe for a splendid evening.

This is where I felt it.  This is how beauty feels.  This is what beauty is.  Beauty is powerful.  Beauty is blessed.  Beauty is purposed.  Beauty warms the soul.

Beauty-Full

Sunday was an “…and I’m feeeee-linnnnn goooooood!” (in my J. Hud voice) type of day.  I woke up smiling, inspired by the past days events, and ready to prepare for my coming work week.  I looked in the mirror, smiled, and proceeded to shake my kinky hair into place.  I felt like a lion in all my fierce red mane.   I felt powerful, blessed, and purposed.  I headed to Starbucks with my laptop in hand ready to pour all of the greatness from the weekend into this post.  Taking my seat and looking out the window as cars drove by, I let the sun warm my face.  This is where I felt it.  This is how beauty feels.  This is what beauty is.  Beauty is powerful.  Beauty is blessed.  Beauty is purposed.  Beauty warms the soul.  It was then that I realized I’d experienced a beauty full weekend and now, I was basking in its glow.  I know we can get caught up in the hype of beauty products and accessories in an attempt to feel or look beautiful.  But beauty is not far away.  It’s right in front of you.  Beauty is all around you.  We’ve got to learn to embrace beauty.  It’s different, it’s unique, and it’s free to whomever will receive it.  I like this beauty journey guys.  Stay beauty-full loves….
