Lessons to learn from Monique… Why you should validate yourself!

Sometimes, when I see sisters getting out of pocket, I give them the benefit of the doubt.  However, when they begin to infringe on their own respect in a way that hurts and diminishes other sisters and brothers, I have to speak on it.  That is why I’ve got to talk about the growing problem that is Monique.

We have all been privy to Monique’s claim that she had been shafted by Oprah and Tyler Perry.  More recently, she verbally insulted Whoopi Goldberg by calling her “the help”.  Now, sis has gone as far as to threaten to slap Steve Harvey for his request for her to apologize to Whoopi.  Now, there are lots of reasons to wanna slap someone, but an apology to another sis?  Sis, that ain’t the move.

I find the developing drama for Monique to be disheartening because I am a believer that people don’t just wake up and start going ape-shit.  Monique’s issue stems from the fact that she is so hungry for the validation of others.  I have always gone through life with my own ideas and my own markers for success.  As long as you are dependent on other people validating you, you will forever be frustrated and disappointed when they do not deliver it.

Monique is creating a toxic environment for herself. If you’ve been following my blog, then you know that I encourage my sisters to build a life of peace and happiness.  Both of which are a choice, it is just up to us to realize that.  When we are operating in our gifting, and in this case, her gifting is that of laughter, how can she be constantly deemed “toxic”?  Well, something is clogging her free release.  The thing that is blocking her is a need to be validated and celebrated by others.

Everything that you do in your purpose, you just do, without a need for recompense.  This is the great thing about “Abundant Life” when you operate from a place of service, the universe will always reward you.  Opportunities will find you and you will elevate without seeking elevation.  I pray for my sister, that she would find peace in just being Monique (and by no means am I saying do this for FREE), but be content and empowered in who you are, what you have accomplished, and what you are capable of.

What are your thoughts on the recent events surrounding Monique?  I look forward to reading your comments and let’s chat about it on our Facebook Page, be sure to use the hashtag #ValidateYourself in your comments.
