I am willing to bet that everyone has seen or heard of Karen Malina White. For over 40 years veteran actress White, has been capturing our attention on TV and films. The Philadelphia native sat down with us to discuss her iconic career and how she is louder and prouder than ever!
Since the 1980’s Karen Malina White has been showcasing her acting talents on projects such as “Lean on Me” with Morgan Freeman. Her performance landed her a nomination – 1990 Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. White has also had a long career in television on shows such as “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, portraying Will Smith’s friend Jazz’s wife, Jewel. Charmaine Brown on “The Cosby Show” and “A Different World”, “Malcolm & Eddie”, “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper”. Also “How To Get Away With Murder” and “Veep” just to name a few.
In 2017, White was working with students at the University of Texas reviewing her long career in entertainment. The youthful pupils were immediately excited upon hearing that she was the voice of “Dijonay Jones” on the iconic show, “The Proud Family.” White will revive her role in “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” premiering February 23, 2022 on Disney +.
