I recently took a last-minute trip to Asheville, NC, to accompany my big sister on a work-related journey. It was her birthday week, and I couldn’t let her spend it alone. So, we turned her work trip into a mini birthday celebration. We spent three delightful days exploring the charm and beauty of Asheville.
Exploring Asheville: Highlights of the Trip
We stayed at the Hilton Biltmore, and the area was so nice! There were so many great restaurants, shops, and more right within walking distance. Although we planned to visit the famous Biltmore Estate, the weather and timing didn’t allow us to secure a ticket before heading back to Atlanta.
On our way home, one of our stops was the outlet mall, which was fun. However, my favorite moment of the trip was spending hours in the bookstore with my big sis. We both got lost in the aisles, sharing our favorite titles and discovering new reads together. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the delicious churros at Taco Boy – they were a treat!
Dining and Culinary Delights
During our trip, we had the pleasure of dining at several wonderful restaurants and cafes. We enjoyed meals at Taco Boy, Leo’s Italian Social, Fork Lore, and Another Broken Egg.
The standout meal for me was at Taco Boy. The birria and churros were absolutely amazing! I also had the opportunity to try fried garbanzo beans for the first time – a unique and delicious experience that I highly recommend. Finding out that the owner of Taco Boy is a woman from South Carolina made the meal even sweeter.
The Sisterhood Experience
This trip was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bond between my oldest sister and me. It provided a chance for us to be there for one another and truly enjoy each other’s company. One of the most memorable aspects of the trip was our drive up to Asheville. We had so many amazing conversations, empowering each other and lifting each other up. We took the time to express our gratitude for this shared experience, making it a trip filled with love, support, and deepened sisterhood.
Reflections and Takeaways
This unexpected getaway to Asheville was much needed and reminded me of how blessed I am to have the family I do. The time spent with my sister, the conversations we had, and the memories we made were invaluable. It was a beautiful reminder to cherish the moments we have with loved ones.
I would definitely recommend Asheville as a getaway for anyone looking to relax and take in the sights. The charming city has so much to offer, from delicious food to beautiful scenery. I can already see a future weekend getaway with the “Husbae” in Asheville on the horizon. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
