It’s Day 1 of 365 and It’s My Year of Forty… Let’s Do This

Happy New Year!  I have to say that I was jubilant as 2019 rolled in.  Day 1 of 365 started out great for me.  No, I didn’t bring it in at any big elaborate parties, but I was at peace.  That peace was hard earned.

My day 1 wasn’t spent reflecting, planning, or strategizing.  Instead, it was a continuation of everything I’ve been doing in 2018.  I want to be consistent, intentional, and in the moment.  My peace came from living 2018 “in the moment”.  I spent time with people that mean much to me.  I feel like I balanced out my hustle evenly with my love for family and friends.  I took risks and I did the things that felt good to me.  That’s a win for any near 40-year-old out there.  It is usually the hardest thing for us to do what feels good for us.

I won’t lie, back in September, I had some anxiety about approaching my 40th.  Then, I just looked around at all my beautiful 40+ girlfriends.  My eldest sister is living her best life at the sweet age of 45.  My business bestie is flourishing in her business that she jumped out in faith on at the age of 40.  Two of my friends have found the men of their dreams after 40.  So, after taking all of that in, I realized that this is just the start of who I am becoming.  I realized that my best days are ahead of me.  I’m wiser, smarter, experienced, and well moisturized, lol.

There are some things that I am bold enough to admit to myself:  I like to stay in way too much.  I have more energy than I give myself credit for, and procrastination is something I allow in my life.  In other words… “get that shit together Kim!”  I’ve got conquests to conquer and empires to build.  2019… let’s do this.

What are some of the things you’re looking forward to in 2019?  What have you decided to make a habit on day 1?  Post in the comments or connect with me on Instagram @isis_thomas or @ihearthatgirl.

Peace & Blessings,
