Last night’s BET Hip-Hop Awards went virtual because, well… we’re in a pandemic. Although most of the fanfare, hype, and regalia of the event was missing, the “culture” still managed to give the people what they want! After all, Black Culture cannot be cancelled! Even in a pandemic.
Hands down, the best performance of the night was during the BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher feature. The “Cyphers” are the epitome of the foundation of hip-hop culture and we see them throughout the awards show. Brandy shared a 2020 re-imagining of her “Wanna Be Down- Remix” in the cypher. This time, it featured Teyana Taylor, H.E.R., Erykah Badu, and B-Rocka herself spitting bars! H.E.R. delivered a dope couple bars in remembrance for Breonna Taylor. Reminding us to NEVER FORGET.
