Black Hollywood Elite Descend on Atlanta for Tyler Perry’s Historic Opening

Tyler Perry is an inspiring person. His recent grand opening for his Tyler Perry Studios places him as a historic inspiration for the black community.

Saturday night, 800 guests celebrated the opening of Tyler Perry Studios. It is the first black-owned film studio ever. Black Hollywood’s best came out to honor and in honor of Tyler Perry’s accomplishment. Taraji P. Henson, Patti LaBelle, Tiffany Haddish, Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Kaepernick, Gayle King, Gabourey Sidibe, Will & Jada Smith are just a few of the celebrities that were in attendance for this historic moment.

The first-ever fully black-owned studio lot honors Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey, Spike Lee, Whoopi Goldberg, Sidney Poitier, Will Smith, Halle Berry, Cicely Tyson, and the John Singleton and Diahann Carroll with the naming of each sound stage. Tyler Perry continues to give us much to be proud of. He gives us something to reach for, motivation to keep pushing forward, and celebration for the ancestors. As Viola Davis stated:

What’s happened with us historically is we’re waiting for people to get us. We’re waiting for people to throw us a crumb. That’s not what Tyler Perry has done. I want to be able to look back on this and say ‘I was there.
