I am coming down from a “Brown Sugar” high this past weekend. I had the opportunity to speak to a group of beautiful black women at the Black & Beautiful Women Brunch in Atlanta, GA.
Just imagine if you can, a room filled with beautiful black women enjoying a delicious brunch on the east side of Atlanta. Can you envision it? And add to that, the women are chatting, laughing, and embracing one another just like sisters. Is that any better? I tell you this, whatever you are imagining, if you were there, your heart would have not believed it.
Saturday, June 10th, I had the opportunity to be a guest facilitator at this awesome event. I found out about this brunch via Facebook, and I’m so happy I was able to meet Tiffany Wright, the founder of this prestigious event. Her motivation and purpose behind this event is for black women to have a safe space to just be and celebrate their beauty and all the exhausting hurdles we have to endure in wearing this skin. It was such an enlightening brunch that focused on self care, self love, and mental wellness.
I delivered a session on Embodying Self Love in which we discussed the three facets of existence and how to become a fully empowered woman that embodies self love in those areas: Mind, Body, & Soul. The attendees shared affirmations with one another, encouraged and pinpointed powerful traits for their sisters, and embraced our quirks.
It was truly gratifying to share stories and dialogue with the women in attendance. I met so many amazing black women that I plan to continue to converse with. The Black & Beautiful Women’s Brunch kicked off their tour in Atlanta, GA. The next tour dates are: July 8th in Washington, DC and August 5th in Chicago, IL!
