I discovered this artist by what is becoming to be the norm with music lovers of the age…searching YouTube for the latest smoothed out mixes. With the music world being under the spell of down tempo Artists like Jhene Aiko, Banks, Seyvn Streeter, and others; I believe to have found something very iconic in Ms. Isley. After listening to tracks off of her “Dreams in Analog” album, I’m immediately taken by her silky smooth melodic voice and infectious drum beats. I’m blown instantly after listening to the very first track. I found myself reaching for my glass of wine and feeling ready to unwind for the evening. Each track seems to transport you into this journey through deep thoughts and complex rhythms. “Ross&Rachel” is surely one of my favorites. Now, I’m on the quest to discover more on this artist. Upon my recent quest, I’ve uncovered that not only is she the daughter of Mr. Ernie Isley of the legendary Isley Brothers; but she also studied as a classical vocal singer at the tender age of 12. This singer songwriter is very proud of her family’s legacy. Not only does this young lady show off her musical roots with every lyric she sings. She delivers a quality of music that the industry is surely missing. So, this weekend when you and the girls decide to catch up on the weeks events over your favorite bottle, turn on that awesome Alex Isley playlist from YouTube. Here’s a dose of my favorite- “Ross & Rachel”:
