4 Ways to Grow Your Nape Area

1. No Tension

Heavy manipulation is one of the main causes for breakage. Tight braids, weaves, wigs, wreck havoc on our nape region if we aren’t careful. Avoid the unnecessary stress on your hair and give this area a break.

During the cold-weather months it’s important to keep the hair up and off of harsh heavy fabrics i.e. scarves, sweaters, coats etc. that may cause dryness and tangles at the nape. Constant direct manipulation can cause unnecessary breakage, so try to avoid as much friction as possible.

2. Relax Your Nape Last

This area is very fragile and should be handled with care. Wherever you apply the relaxer first tends to process the longest, and if you are not careful, it can lead to over processed hair. Over processed hair is weak leading to dryness and breakage. Apply the relaxer to the nape towards the end of the session.

3. Massage It With Oils

Massaging the nape on a weekly basis will help stimulate blood to the area promoting new growth. Warm a few tablespoons of your favourite oil, dip your fingers into the oil and gently massage in circular motions for 2-5 minutes. Your scalp will thank you for the extra TLC!

4. Keep It Moisturized

Moisturize this section first! It’s very important to have this delicate area hydrated. Moisture increases elasticity preventing excessive dryness. Try using a steamer for extra moisture.
