There comes a moment — usually quiet, usually unexpected — when a woman realizes she’s been moving through life on autopilot and is ready to figure out how to start living with intention again.
Not because she doesn’t care. Not because she isn’t trying. But because she’s been in survival mode for so long that “being intentional” feels like a luxury for a calmer season.
Sis… you’re not alone in that.
Validation — naming her inner monologue
You might feel like you’ve been drifting lately.
You wake up tired, go to bed even more tired, and somewhere between sunrise and sunset, you catch yourself wondering:
“When did I stop choosing my life… and start just getting through it?”
Maybe you’ve been pouring into work, into family, into everybody else’s emergencies.
Maybe you’ve been doing what needs to be done, but not what actually feeds you.
And somehow, the days started blending together. Everything became routine… but nothing feels like you.
Understanding — why this feeling arises
For Black women, especially in this Becoming Era, autopilot isn’t a personal failure.
It’s conditioning.
Acknowledge what you’re really feeling here
We’ve been raised to be dependable before we are deliberate. Strong before we are soft. Useful before we are fulfilled.
So of course you learned how to survive. Of course you mastered how to keep moving even when you’ve been running on fumes.
Your body knows hustle. Your spirit, though? She’s craving intention.
Living intentionally isn’t about rearranging your whole world.
It’s about remembering that you have a world — and that it deserves your presence, not just your productivity.
Gentle Shift — the soft beginning
Day 1 of Becoming is not about fixing your whole life.
It’s about taking a breath deep enough to remind you that you’re still here. That you still matter. That your choices still count.
Start with something small, almost unassuming:

Light a candle before you sit down.
Play music while you make your tea.
Write one sentence in a journal.
Take a breath before you respond.
Choose you, once, on purpose.
The shift isn’t the ritual — it’s the remembering.
You’re remembering that this is your life… and you get to decide how you show up in it.
You’re remembering that you don’t exist to hold everything and everyone.
You’re remembering that softness is not a reward — it’s a right.
And in this remembering, something inside you begins to rise.
Your Becoming doesn’t start with a big moment. It starts here, in this gaze inward, in this breath you allowed yourself to take, in this truth settling into your chest:
I’m ready to start living with intention again.
This is the doorway.
Step into it gently.
If this resonates…
This is only Day 1 of Becoming.
If you’re ready for a full 30-day journey back to yourself — one that helps you soften, reconnect, and live with intention on purpose — the 30 Days to Becoming Intentional e-book is your guide.
