Vision

Finding Vision with the Ladies of Distinction at Stone Mountain High School

You’ve got to have “VISION”!  I’ve always chased after my passions.  I had wild dreams, lol.  Crazy dreams.  I wanted to be president, an architect, lawyer, marketing executive, Grammy award-winning artist, etc.  And each of these passions pushed me closer to my purpose.  Each step of the way, I was being drawn to my purpose in life.  My mother nurtured my dreams.  She gave all that she could to help me achieve whichever new dream I had for that month, lol.

That is why I am always eager to help our young ladies and men find ways to achieve their visions.  And the most important thing is to have a vision.  Many of our young people are lacking vision because we are not allowing them the freedom to dream.  We give them staunch rules and avenues to success.  That’s fine in some ways, but it’s always amazing to color outside the lines.  Creativity is the outlet of dreams and visions.  They can’t know what is possible if we don’t expose them to it.

Vision Boards

So, I was honored to be contacted by Mrs. Jackie Thomas at Stone Mountain High School.  She requested that I come in and teach my Vision Board Workshop to her girls’ group, Ladies of Distinction.  I spent four weeks with the young ladies helping them define their vision for themselves.  We tapped into their wildest dreams and discussed ways to make it a reality.  Sometimes their dreams were so big they didn’t think it was possible.  However, over time, we were able to strategically plan ways to achieve it.

Let’s continue to show our young people the possibilities of their wildest dreams, and let’s give them the freedom to pursue them.
