I’ve been reading a LOT more lately. As I am moving through this journey of life, my evolution is allowing me to explore my thirst for knowledge in ways I haven’t before. Recently, I went back to a favorite book of mine, The Four Agreements. And the first agreement hit me like a ton of bricks… again. It made me wonder, am I speaking sweet words to my soul?
If you’ve never read this book, I encourage you to do so. It is one of the first books many people read when they begin opening the door to a fuller understanding of who they are. Author, Don Miguel Ruiz, outlines these simple precepts to free living in a way that ANYONE can grasp. For some reason, reading this again in this season of my life, I was reminded to love on myself with my words.
The First Agreement: “Be Impeccable With Your Word”
I empower people daily. It is in my DNA and I do it without thinking sometimes, lol. However… when it comes to myself, I can be my worst critic. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some me. But I could be kinder in the way I speak to myself. That inner voice that can criticize, lash out, and shut down the ideas and actions I take or have taken in life is a big meanie! So now, I am making it a habit to speak kinder to myself. To speak sweetly to my soul. To remind myself of how great and awesome and amazing I truly am.
LEARN HOW TO TRAIN YOUR MIND TO SPEAK SWEET.
Why is it so hard for us to do this? I mean, we have no issue seeing the beauty in others. Yet, we struggle so deeply acknowledging self. I attribute that to society construing acknowledgment with ego. It is OK to acknowledge how amazing you are! Why? Because it is true! Acknowledgment only becomes ego when you believe the greatness in yourself diminishes the greatness in others.
I encourage you, speak more sweet words to yourself about yourself, your aspirations, and your abilities.
Until next time lovies… Peace & Blessings!!
