Friday, we received the news that Earl “DMX” Simmons, transitioned to the spirit realm. DMX passed away after a week on life support from a reported drug overdose. Although, said reports are unverified.
The Dark Man X
It’s no secret that the 50-year old suffered from narcotic addiction. One sadly picked up unknowingly from a mentor. The tragic story of his life is what made him so loved. He shared the pain of his life, his trauma, his confusion in navigating all of that and we loved him for his transparency.
His ability to be open about the trials of life that many of us suffer. If not exactly the same, the trials are still similar. No one is perfect, we’re just trying to get through this life the best way we know how. DMX relayed this story authentically and his prayer was to the Divine Source that could carry him through it all. There is no doubt that when DMX passed away, his Spirit returned to the Great Divine.
The Dark Man X gave all of his energy in every verse, rhyme, and prayer. You could feel him in every word. His impact lives on through his music and the ripples of his influence are being posted all over social media.
Here are a few of the fan reactions:
#DMX (Earl Simmons) was iconic in his flow, transparent about his flaws, and passionate about God. He was the first rapper I ever saw cry in public. A drug habit that began at 14 yrs old because an adult “mentor” laced his weed with crack without his knowledge turned into more than just a habit he couldn’t break free from. It intensified his dependence on and passion for God, compassion and empathy for others, healthy mentoring relationships with other artists. I’m sorry he couldn’t break free from the cycle of sobriety and relapse, but I’m glad he’s finally free. #GetAtMeDog
“Energy never dies, it only transitions or just changes form.” This is a heavy loss indeed, and while the fan in me was initially saddened and upset at the thought of you dying, The man in me practices acceptance and would much rather thank you for living… For giving unselfishly of yourself, for sharing your story, your passion, your talents, your struggles, your prayers.Thank you for everything Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons. The next journey awaits.Peace Dog.
Today we mourn the loss of a man that is an icon.A man of unmatched talent.A man of depth and character that received global love, admiration, and accolades even though someone he called mentor and advisor tried to stop him by introducing him to crack at the age of 14.I love his talent and his drive and if I could have one wish/ answered prayer for him it would be that he eventually destroyed the demons sent to destroy him and lived a long and amazing life.If the devil that sought to destroy him is still alive I pray you enjoy the fruit from those sewn seeds.I pray his children and family know that they were always loved by him without doubt.Rest in His arms DMX
As you can see from the reactions, so many had love so deep in their hearts for DMX. We could see straight through the pain and long to reach out and embrace him to give him the love he so deserved.
One hopes that he felt that love before DMX passed away and left this physical plain. What are your #DMX memories?
