Where You Should Be Spending Your Money: Her Sticky Hope

Hey gang!  It’s another glorious Friday! And it’s time for us to highlight more amazing black fempreneurs! In Where You Should Be Spending Your Money, we showcase the various businesses available in our community that we can support to inspire you to cycle your very important and all-powerful dollar amongst people that look like you and have YOU in mind.  This week, we’re showing love to Her Sticky Hope!

IHTG:  Tell us a little about yourself (hometown, family life, etc.).

Anquette Devaron

Hi beautiful people! My name is Anquette and I am the Creator of Her Sticky Hope. I am originally from Orlando, Fla. Richmond Heights to be exact (Lol). However, I’ve been living in Georgia for about 20 years. I am a daughter, sister, cousin, auntie, niece, granddaughter, and friend.

IHTG:   What motivated you to start this business?

I do what I do because I know the sucky feeling of not feeling validated, having excuses, not feeling worthy because of insecurities, not feeling genuinely supported, and the feeling of simply needing genuine words of encouragement.
I created Her Sticky Hope because I truly wanted to share the wisdom, inspiration, and more from the growing pains & glow I’ve experienced and still encounter. My pain truly led me to my passion to inspire myself along with others! Those sucky experiences all played a major role in my “why”. I am convinced that whatever sucky thing you are experiencing right now is at work to mold your why.

IHTG: Tell us about your business (what product or service do you offer, your typical customer, etc.).

Her Sticky Hope is an inspirational brand. Through Her Sticky Hope, I am able to connect with so many beautiful souls and I am able to offer encouragement by sharing my experience, my passion, my wisdom, inspirational quotes, and more. Her Sticky Hope offers apparel, host city vibes (a time to connect in the city), and daily words of encouragement featured on our social media. Her Sticky Hope will soon feature inspirational goodies, a blog, host different events, and so much more. I am so excited for what’s to come.
If you identify yourself as that strong friend who needs inspiration too, if you’ve struggled with self-love and the glowing process, if you need a daily word with some bomb vibes to match, or if you would love to hear more about what Her Sticky Hope is up to… Stay tuned!

IHTG:  How does your business give back to the community?

Her Sticky Hope gives back to the community in many ways. One of our most consistent ways is City Vibes. Every 4th Saturday of the month we go out into the city of Atlanta and connect with our friends in the city. Some of our friends are in a season of homelessness; some of our friends just need prayer or someone to talk to. During this time we provide food and helpful items to those who are seeking the resources. We are excited to announce City Vibes in Orlando, Fla hosted by Za’Kriya Crouch the Creator of Fight For It Or Lose It All. We are bringing more things to the community. Stay tuned.

IHTG:  What advice would you give to someone considering starting a business?

I recently received a question on when should a person quit their job in order to pursue their dreams fulltime. My advice was it all depends on your efforts and consistency. We, including me, have the illusion that more time will give us more results. I’ve learned that more time will only give us more of what our current habits are. If you are working for someone else and don’t properly allocate your time, your effort, and consistency to be a brand or business owner then you should rethink your decision.
Build solid productive habits, a schedule, and stick to it. Once you feel you are consistent with your efforts, productivity, & results and you feel extra time will increase those efforts. Then you should consider submitting your two weeks’ notice. If not I honestly would stay at my fulltime job until I am committed and consistent.

IHTG:  What is the best advice you’ve received since starting your business?

Stop worrying about making the right decision. Focus more on making every decision right :).
