Friendship…Road Tested, Soul Approved

It’s good to have friends.  It’s great to have best friends, that are like sisters.  As we mature into adults we meet amazing people.  Some of those people will become acquaintances.  But sometimes, if you’re really lucky, you’ll gain a sister.  I’ve been blessed to experience these defining moments five times in the span of 36 years.  I can remember each initial meeting and the moment we clicked.

Recently, I was able to connect with my college sisters.  We don’t all live in the same state, some are married and have kids.  Life gets in the way.  You know how it is.  So, when Monica (the only one out of state) let us know she was making a trip to ATL, we planned to spend time together.  It was a busy weekend for me with ONE Musicfest, Triumph Awards, and the Misayo House launch commitments.  However, we were able to find time to be with each other Friday and Saturday.  I had been test driving the new 2016 Mazda 6 for the week, so over the weekend we were able to get around town in style.  The vehicle that was delivered to me, appropriately, was “Soul Red”.  Besides an amazingly sexy exterior, there was so much more going on inside.  Describes me perfectly!! LOL!  Seriously though…it does.

Friday evening, the ladies and I went to see the opening night film, Perfect Guy.  Following the movie, we hopped into the Mazda 6 and scuttled over to a dessert bar for late night chats, cake, and coffee.  As, I sat there, catching up with these women who shared a period of my life in which we were all trying to define who we are or who we wanted to be, I began to realize that my girls and the “Soul Red” Mazda 6 had so much in common.

  • Sophistication:  The thing I love about the Mazda 6 is that it is such an appropriate vehicle for a woman my age.  It has a level of maturity to it without losing the spunk of a sports car.  That’s the personality of my college sister and soror, Monica.  She has this sophistication about herself.  She holds her head up high, she’s graceful, and articulate.  Yet, her smile and laughter exude her youth.
  • Calculated:  The mechanics team at Mazda not only focused on design, but on how well the car would handle on the road.  The fuel efficiency was amazing!  With all the driving I did, I didn’t have to refuel once the entire week!  It gets an average 40mpg!!  The ride was extremely smooth and with a 4-cylinder engine, it still had pep!  I definitely felt like I was enjoying a sports car.  I liken the mechanics to the personality of Tyrese.  She’s what I consider the stable one.  She’s a planner, calculated in her moves, and you will have to try hard to catch her off guard.
  • Entertaining:  The sound system in the Mazda 6…let’s just say, there was no shortage of ‘Party Moments’ in this car!  Bose® Centerpoint Surround Sound system with AudioPilot® 2 and 11 speakers (including woofer) with the variety of satellite radio; I found myself jamming out at many a red light!  My girl Tiffany is all about entertainment.  She’s the songbird, she loves music, lyrics, and vocals.  She brings it together beautifully because when she’s in her element, you see her beaming.
  • Technology:  There are soooo many bells and whistles on this ride!  Bluetooth connection, Adaptive Front-lighting System, Moonroof with one-touch open, Advanced Keyless Entry System, Auto-dimming rearview mirror, Rain sensing windshield wipers, Smart Brake Support with Collision Warning*, Lane Departure Warning System, and Blind Spot Monitoring. And that’s not all!  I consider myself to be the techy one, on the latest social media trend (I recently introduced them all to Periscope).  I love getting out there and learning what’s new!
As you can tell, I enjoyed the Mazda 6 and my college sisters.  It was a perfect weekend with the fittingly titled, “Soul Red” Mazda 6.  Just like the Mazda 6, our friendship is road-tested.  We’ve had bumps along the road, but we’ve gotten over the bumps stylishly and unaffected.  I can truly say the Mazda 6, like our friendship, is road-tested and soul approved <3!
