It’s been a week now since the culmination of a great weekend at Essence Fest. There were so many things that made Essence Festival amazing. However, the street style was a highlight for me. I believe that a black woman’s fashion sense is part of that “magic” that we possess.
My photographer, Celisse, and I hit the streets during our time in New Orleans to capture the essence of street style and fashion at the biggest women’s empowerment event of the year! There was simplicity, there was technique, there was undeniable creativity as well. Ultimately, the women (and men) of essence festival weekend did not come to play.
And we sisters have our hands in EVERYTHING! I ran into a fashion designer from Brazil! She spoke no English, but her bestie was on hand to translate for her. And guess what guys, her bestie is the one who encouraged her to attend the event because she wanted her to gain exposure in the American market. Isn’t that the essence of sisterhood? I love it!
