Design Essentials Gives Me a Moisture Makeover!

While enjoying the Essence Festival activities this year, I was invited to participate in Design Essential’s “Moisture Makeover”!  As a naturalista, keeping my hair moisturized is always a main concern and issue.  I’ve used several products to alleviate dry issues, but had yet to find one that ended the moisture loss.  So, of course you know I was excited to have the opportunity to be pampered during my birthday weekend in New Orleans!!  All of those previous happenings equal a GREAT time for me!  To prepare, I kept my hair wrapped in a turban for the trip.  Underneath, my hair was styled in chunky twists.  Nothing fancy mind you, I did a quick co-wash after taking down my Marley Twists.  The condition of my hair was honestly a mess…I hadn’t been keeping up with my regimen and I was in desperate need of a detangling session.

IMG_0144During my session, my stylist used the Coconut & Monoi products on my hair to take down my twists and style them into a sexy sideswept updo!  I’m telling you, I felt FABULOUS after just a few strokes through my hair with the product.  I was gifted the Design Essentials Naturals product line:  Shampoo, Conditioner, and Leave-In in the Almond & Avocado.  I was told by the stylist that if moisture was an issue, these products will handle that at the ROOT.  When you shampoo your hair, you should be getting a healthy dose of moisture that will maintain until your next shampoo.  For me, shampoos had been falling short on delivering moisture.  Many of them professed they would give me lasting moisture, but in reality, after my hair was dry, it was left DRY and crunchy.  I had yet to find a shampoo that actually delivered on its promise.

RedheadFast forward to yesterday.  I had been putting off dying my hair for a month.  Why?  Pure procrastination and laziness.  My hair is such a task when it comes to shampooing, conditioning, detangling, and styling.  An average session can take upwards of 3-5 hours.  And I knew that this session would be a long one seeing as I still hadn’t properly detangled my hair after having it in Marley braids for 6 weeks (yes, I should be ashamed of myself)!  With the urging of my Periscope followers, I decided to go ahead and dye my hair Blazing Burgandy, using the Textures & Tones boxes that had been gathering dust in my bathroom.  I decided this was a perfect time as ever to try out the Design Essentials line as it would be imperative to have highly moisturized hair after dying it.  Well, let me just say this…YES!!!!!  The shampoo sealed it for me.  It’s sulfate free, so I wasn’t expecting any lather, but I was pleasantly surprised when the suds overwhelmed me.  Throughout the shampoo and conditioning phase I felt the moisturizing effects instantly.  Just before styling, I applied the leave-in conditioner to assist with detangling and let me tell ya, it made things extremely easier.  I am extremely pleased with my results and I will be adding the Design Essentials product line to my regimen.  Heck, it IS my regimen!  If you’ve struggled with dry hair, I suggest you give this product a try (available NOW in my aStore below).
