It’s not often that we see a homicide detective male or female, quite like Detective Phylicia Richardson. She’s the kind, compassionate, quirky cop that great movies are made of.
We meet Detective Richardson in the original TV One Film Sins Of The Father. Actress AJ Johnson best known for her scene stealing roles in House Party and Baby Boy is the catalyst that brings Detective Richardson to life.
The character is a refreshing difference from the rough, malicious, arrogant officers we’re used to seeing on screen and in real life where criminal justice is concerned, especially in dealing with young black men. In Detective Phylicia Richardson, we’re introduced to a bohemian-esque, “Happy” T-shirt wearing, seaweed loving officer who is free with her emotions, yet empowered by her skill set.
In addition to Johnson introducing us to Phylicia in an Instagram post, she breaks down the inspiration behind her new role in an Exclusive Interview with IHearThatGirl.com additionally featured on Breath Of Life Daily Podcast.
Listen to what Johnson had to say about this dynamic character in her own words and check out the world premiere of Sins Of The Father Sunday June 7th at 8/7 C on TV One.
