Many people like myself probably got the first impact of Amirah Vann in her role as Ernestine in the TV series “Underground”. Her execution of the role was so passionate and phenomenal! It was an immediate standout.
Solely based on that, it seems Amirah’s talent for playing the strong lead is on fire! I was crushed when Underground was canceled, but now to see that she’s made her way to Queen Sugar . . . . . It’s clearly about to be some drama, unlike anything we’ve seen in St. Josephine’s parish.
No Cap, but Charley played by Dawn-Lyen Gardner, is not about to have any ease on her hands dealing with Parker, the character Vann portrays. I would even go as far as to say she’s met her match!
As the force that’s been “setting the fires” already, it’s apparent that Miss Parker plays no games. Writing Vann into the role was a genius move. The direction and cinematography of the scene as we’re introduced to Parker were outstanding. The shock factor was brilliant knowing who Charley is now dealing with.
So many questions are now presented. How far was Aunt Vi led into a loophole? How much does she know? The questions could go on, but BRAVO to the whole Queen Sugar team! THAT is how you end a season in anticipation of what’s to come!
