Dionne Warwick To Launch “Healthy Gal” Activewear

wenn4160175-378x414Legendary singer Dionne Warwick has partnered with her daughter-in-law to create an active wear line for curvy women. The line is called Healthy Gal and it is active wear made from Brazilian fabric designed for both comfort and style.  “People will not find the fabric here. It’s one-of-a-kind,” Warwick told TNJ.com.

Warwick and her daughter-in-law, Luana Elliott, launched the line last year 2014 and re-launched in February 2015. “The material camouflages cellulite and other problems. And the leggings have a shaper aspect for tummy control!” adds Elliott.

Warwick and Elliot’s entry into the athletic apparel market is a smart move. This area of clothing is outperforming others. “Activewear is booming, with sales growth exceeding that of the apparel market as a whole,” NPD analyst Marshal Cohen told Fortune. “Consumers are drawn to its comfort and versatility, and the fact that it still makes a fashion statement.” Warwick has had some well-documented financial problems of late. This could be just the thing to turn her money situation around.

“Through Healthy Gal, we are developing perfect-fit products for curvy women with ‘real bodies,’” says Elliott, a Los Angeles-based personal fitness trainer. “My clients loved all of the pairs of leggings I wore. I developed a few for the girls, and they fell in love with those, too,” she shares.

Prices range from $49 to $89, and the items include leggings that are “double-faced,” with one side designed for a workout and the other side designed to go out afterwards.

The pair has also expanded the line to include jewelry, bracelets made of sterling silver alphabet beads, black or brown denim cord, and color- faceted Pyrite – all with inspiring messages such as “wisdom,” “power,” and “bliss.”

Healthy Gal items can only be purchased online at HealthyGal.net, but there are plans to sell elsewhere.

“Debbie Allen has a dance studio in Los Angeles and Judith Jamison was the Artistic Director at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. I know both of them. We’re looking into places like those where we know that people will utilize our products,” explains Warwick.

To promote the line,Healthy Gal is asking customers to send in videos of themselves singing Warwick songs. The winner will get a $500 credit to buy Healthy Gal products.
